Jayne Barry

Jayne Barry is a prominent Irish watercolour artist and former President of the Water Colour Society of Ireland (WCSI). A self-taught painter, she works across multiple media but has always regarded watercolour as her truest artistic passion.

Before joining the Water Colour Society of Ireland, Jayne had already established her reputation through several solo exhibitions, which gave her the confidence to pursue her work at a higher level. Upon becoming a member of the Society, she focused her practice almost entirely on watercolour, winning Society awards in both 1999 and 2005. She has exhibited regularly at the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) and in numerous galleries across Cork and Dublin, and has participated as both a contributor and an invited artist in a wide range of group exhibitions — most notably a group show themed "Waterways" at the Lavit Gallery, Cork, held in celebration of the City of Culture designation.

Her work is held in the Limerick University Collection, the Athlone RTC Collection, and numerous private collections across the United States, Sweden, Germany, England, and Ireland. Jayne served as President of the Water Colour Society of Ireland, and following the conclusion of her term, continued to support the Society by actively assisting her successor in the transition of responsibilities.
