Rick Huang Huazhao

 

Huang Huazhao is an internationally acclaimed Chinese watercolour artist born in July 1977 in Fangchenggang, Guangxi. A member of the Zhuang ethnic group and a First-Class Fine Arts Master, he completed his graduate studies in watercolour at the Guangxi Arts Institute and subsequently undertook advanced research programmes at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the Beijing Academy of Painting, and the China National Academy of Painting. He currently serves as a Fine Arts Expert at the Guangxi Mass Art Museum, a Master's supervisor at the Guangxi Arts Institute, and a Visiting Professor at Guangxi Normal University.

 

In terms of professional roles, Huang holds the position of Vice Chairman of the Watercolour Art Committee of the Chinese Artists Association, Researcher at the China Cultural and Arts Promotion Association, Vice Chairman and Head of the Watercolour Committee of the Guangxi Artists Association, and President of the Guangxi Watercolour Painters Association. He is also a member of the Presidium of IMWA (International Masters of Watercolour Association), and serves as a Standing Committee Member of the All-China Youth Federation and a Member of the Guangxi People's Political Consultative Conference.

His watercolour and oil paintings have been selected more than thirty times for national exhibitions organised by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Chinese Artists Association, and the China Oil Painting Society. He has received the highest award at the National Watercolour Exhibition on three occasions, and has won numerous international prizes — including Gold Awards at the International Exhibition at the Louvre, Paris (2012) and the Paris International East-West Art Exhibition commemorating the 50th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations (2014), First Prize at the First International Watercolour Exhibition in Pakistan (2016), and a Silver Award at the Fabriano International Watercolour Exhibition in Italy (2017). He has held solo exhibitions at the National Art Museum of China, Peking University, the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the Guangxi Arts Institute, and in Paris, and his works have been exhibited and lectured upon in more than twenty countries. Multiple works have been auctioned through Rongbaozhai, Beijing Poly, and Hanhai, and are held in institutional and private collections both in China and internationally.
