Stephanie Goldman
Stephanie Goldman is a distinguished American contemporary watercolourist based in California, celebrated for her richly coloured figures, insightful portraits, boldly painted miniatures, and dynamic works in charcoal, graphite, and ink. Having studied with influential masters including Wolf Kahn and Nelson Shanks at Studio Incamminati, she brings a deep classical foundation to her practice, imbuing every work with focused creativity and a spirit of experimentation that has earned her recognition among collectors and critics alike. Notable exhibitions include the fifteen-portrait series I Am A Child at the Riverside Art Museum and Bearing Exquisite Witness at the Joan Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice, University of San Diego, alongside numerous national and international group exhibitions at institutions including the San Diego Museum of Art.
A dedicated educator, Goldman has taught figure painting and portraiture at the Athenaeum School of the Arts in La Jolla for over three decades, and leads workshops across the United States. Together with Ken Goldman, she co-authored The Complete Book of Poses for Artists (Walter Foster) and has collaborated on a wide range of public and private art commissions for hospitals and healing centres. A Signature Member of both the National Watercolor Society (NWS) and the San Diego Watercolor Society, she has served as President of the NWS, playing a pivotal role in advancing the international reach and profile of American watercolour art.
