Rukiye Garip was born in 1964 in Bartın, Turkey. A graduate of the painting department of Gazi University, she spent twenty years as an art teacher before turning fully to her art. She discovered watercolor in 2014 and has since become internationally recognized for her extraordinary depictions of water — capturing its transparency, movement, and reflections with rare sensitivity and precision. She is a member of the American Watercolor Society (AWS) and the International Master of Watercolor Alliance (IMWA), and has participated in over ninety international exhibitions worldwide.
