About the Artist

Marie Françoise Ingels was born in 1957 in Belgium. She began painting in watercolor approximately thirteen years ago and has since developed a highly personal artistic voice that moves fluidly between the figurative and the abstract. Color, contrast, and gestural freedom are the defining pillars of her practice — she works with the interplay of transparency and opacity, and makes deliberate use of the luminous white of the paper as an expressive element in its own right. A member of the International Watercolor Society (IWS), she has represented Belgium in international exhibitions across Europe and beyond, and has been featured twice in the French journal L'Art de l'Aquarelle. Her awards include First Prize at the International Watercolor Salon in Uckange, France (2021), and First Place in the abstract category of the Women in Watercolor International Juried Competition (2024).
