Wang Wei
Wang Wei is a prominent Chinese watercolor painter, Associate Professor at the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering of Harbin University of Science and Technology, and holds a Master's degree in Fine Arts. He is a member of the China Artists Association, a member of the Heilongjiang Artists Association, Vice Chairman of the Watercolor Art Committee of the Heilongjiang Artists Association, and a juror of the Heilongjiang Youth Watercolor Exhibition. He served as a judge of the Third Venice International Watercolor Festival.
Based in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, Wang Wei works primarily in watercolor, with an artistic style characterized by depth, solemnity, and lyrical atmosphere. His subjects range across landscape, figure, and still life, and his work is distinguished by its ability to bridge precise realism with expressive, poetic sensibility — particularly in capturing the natural scenery and human spirit of northern China.
Wang Wei has received numerous awards at major national and international exhibitions. His work Assembly Call (集结号) won the Gold Award at the 5th Sino-Korean Painters Exchange Exhibition and 5th Watercolor Biennial, and received an Excellence Award at the 4th National Youth Art Exhibition, with the work entering the collection of the National Art Museum of China. Qingdao Fragments (青岛拾零) won the Gold Award at the 2012 China Watercolor New Works Exhibition and entered the collection of the Qingdao Press Media Group. Manjianghong (满江红) won the Bronze Award at the Turkey International Watercolor Biennial and was selected for the 10th National Watercolor and Pastel Exhibition. Twilight City (暮光之城) was selected for the 12th National Art Exhibition, the 6th Beijing International Art Biennale, and the 5th National Youth Art Exhibition, and entered the collection of the Shandong Art Museum. Venice Traces (威尼斯行迹) was selected for the 134th Annual Exhibition of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour. His works have also been exhibited at the Shanghai Zhoujiajiao International Watercolor Biennial, the Shenzhen International Watercolor Biennial, and the IWS 5th International Watercolor Festival in Turkey, establishing his reputation as one of China's most internationally recognized watercolor artists.
